Wood Family: American Black Walnut

Made in the USA: My parents take special care to hand select only the highest quality hardwood crafted in small batches right here in the USA from sustainably sourced American Black Walnut.

Best At: The daily grind. Made from sturdy Black Walnut, I am built to work hard and will be your steady companion day in and day out. With a capacity of up to 4.5 oz, my juice groove side keeps your counters dry during any kind of liquid heavy endeavors. My other side is flat, which is ideal when you need an uninterrupted surface for serving finger foods and the like. I also have removable rubber feet on both sides to keep me secure on your counter. Don’t worry–I’m not going anywhere.

Special Skills: Look no further, I’m the kitchen staple you’ve been dreaming of! If you’ve got enough room for me in your kitchen, I can really do it all. I’m the meat carving, veggie dicing, snack sporting, pizza serving, powerhouse you’ve been looking for.

Likes: Rachel Ray, nightly dinners with you and your family, trivia nights, housewarming parties, and regular spa treatments every 3 weeks (mineral oil or beeswax only, please!).

Dislikes: Dishwashers, baths, or anything involving submersion in water or steam, and serrated or electric carving knives, which can cause me to splinter. Also, the stove and my family are in a lifelong feud, so please don’t store me directly next to or on top of him; I just can’t stand the heat.

Care: Some maintenance; I’m great for first time board owners and advanced owners alike. Given my dark complexion, I am more susceptible to beauty marks left by knives, but these only add to my character over time and can be mellowed with regular spa treatments. Safe & Non-Toxic: Free of BPA, phthalates, and formaldehyde.

Behind the Name: I am named after the historic Franklin Avenue in Los Angeles! Here are a few fun facts I bet you didn’t know:

  • Franklin Avenue is one of the oldest streets in Hollywood, California, with history dating back to the 1800’s
  • The very first adobe home in Hollywood was located on what is now Franklin Avenue
  • Iconic landmarks on Franklin Avenue include The Magic Castle and Shakespeare Bridge
