Bang Bang Shrimp is a recipe that I love and that my wife has made for me for years. Traditionally I’ve had it with pasta, but I’ve seen versions of these tacos before and wanted to make my own version and they are delicious! They’re air fried so they’re lower in calories than traditional bang bang shrimp but they’re still crispy and full of flavor. They’re also super easy to make!

What You'll Need

Bang Bang Sauce
- ¼ cup mayo
- 3 tbsp Thai sweet chili sauce
- 1 tsp Sriracha (adjust to taste)

Slaw
- ½ cup shredded carrots
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- ¼ cup mayo
- 2 tbsp white vinegar or lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste

Chipotle Mayo
- ½ cup mayo
- 2-3 tbsp diced chipotle peppers in adobo sauce

Shrimp
- 1 lb raw peeled and deveined shrimp
- Seasoned flour (salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika)
- 2 eggs
- Seasoned bread crumbs
- 0 calorie cooking spray

Other
- Corn or flour tortillas
- Freshly chopped chives

Bang Bang Sauce

  1. Mix ¼ cup mayo, 3 tbsp Thai sweet chili sauce, and 1 tsp Sriracha (use more or less depending on your spice preference) in a bowl until combined and set aside.

Slaw

  1. Combine ½ cup of shredded carrots, 1 shredded cup cabbage, ¼ cup mayo, 2 tbsp white vinegar (or lemon juice), salt and pepper to a bowl and mix until combined. Set in the fridge until you’re ready to use it.

Chipotle Mayo

  1. Combine ½ cup mayo and 2-3 tbsp diced chipotle peppers in adobo in a bowl and whisk until combined. Set aside until assembly.

Shrimp

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400 Fahrenheit for 5 minutes.
  2. While that preheats, take 1lb of raw peeled and deveined shrimp and dredge in seasoned flour (I seasoned mine with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika). After that, dip your shrimp in two whisked eggs, and finally in seasoned bread crumbs.
  3. Spray the bottom of your air fryer with 0 calorie cooking spray and lay down a single layer of your breaded shrimp. Don’t overcrowd your air fryer or the shrimp won’t get crispy. Spray the tops of your shrimp with cooking spray and cook at 400 Fahrenheit for 5 minutes. Flip and cook for an additional 5 minutes (10 minutes total). You might have to cook these in batches depending on how big your air fryer is.
  4. Once finished, toss shrimp in your bang bang sauce until the shrimp is evenly coated.

Building Your Tacos

  1. Time to assemble. Start with one corn or flour tortilla, a couple spoonfuls of your slaw, as many shrimp as you want, and top with a drizzle of the chipotle mayo and some freshly chopped chives! Enjoy :)
