Wood Family: American Black Walnut

Made in the USA: My parents take special care to hand select only the highest quality hardwood crafted in small batches right here in the USA from sustainably sourced American Black Walnut.

Best At: Large or labor intensive tasks. I’m made of rich and sturdy end grain Walnut, which means I am built to work and ready to handle your toughest tasks with ease. If things get messy, I keep your counters dry with my built-in juice groove side that can hold up to 4.5 oz of liquid. My other side is flat, which is ideal when you need an uninterrupted surface for serving finger foods and the like. I also have removable rubber feet on both sides to keep even your most rigorous tasks in place. So, go ahead…slice, dice, mince, chop, and carve your heart out; I won’t break a sweat.

Special Skills: I’ll be your knife’s new BFF! I’m different than most of my other brothers and sisters because I’m an end grain constructed board. My wood fibers are facing up allowing each slice of your blade to go in between these fibers rather than through them. Translation? I keep your blades sharper for longer and am so fun to cut on you may even whistle while you work!

Likes: Iron Chef, carnivores, long walks to the back yard, working out new recipes, and regular spa treatments every 3 weeks (mineral oil or beeswax only, please!).

Dislikes: Dishwashers, baths, or anything involving submersion in water or steam, and serrated or electric carving knives, which can cause me to splinter. Also, the stove and my family are in a lifelong feud, so please don’t store me directly next to or on top of him; I just can’t stand the heat.

Care: I’m ideally suited for an experienced owner; however, I love the opportunity to show new owners how great I can be when well cared for. I am more thirsty than my edge grain brothers and sisters and require regular spa treatments to keep me at the top of my game. For detailed care instructions, click here.

Safe & Non-Toxic: Free of BPA, phthalates, and formaldehyde.

Behind the Name: I get my name from American architect Welton David Becket, who designed several iconic buildings around Los Angeles, including the Pan Pacific Auditorium, The Beverly Hilton, and the Capital Records Building.
